Ending QE: Why it's necessary and how to do it

American former Federal Reserve insider Danielle DiMartino Booth will give a keynote speech on how and why the world's central banks need to normalize monetary policy. A panel with Stéphane Rottier (IMF, ex-ECB) and Geert Noels (Econopolis) will subsequently discuss the situation in the Eurozone.

There will be a light lunch served at 12 noon and the participants will receive a copy of Booth's bestseller FED UP: An Insider’s Take on Why the Federal Reserve is Bad for America (Portfolio, Feb 2017). The event finishes at 2:30 PM.

Danielle DiMartino Booth

Danielle DiMartino Booth is an economic consultant and commentator. After working on Wall Street, she served as Advisor to President of the Dallas Fed Richard W. Fisher until his retirement in 2015. She holds an MBA in Finance and International Business from the University of Texas at Austin and an MS in Journalism from Columbia University.

Geert Noels

Geert Noels

Geert Noels is a macro-economist and a much sought after commentator on financial and economic matters. In 2009 he founded Econopolis, an asset manager and economic consultancy house. He described his view of the financial-economic future in his best-selling book Econoshock. The content of that book is the basis and guiding principle for the strategies of Econopolis.

Stéphane Rottier

Stéphane Rottier

Stéphane Rottier is a lawyer and has a Ph.D. in economics. He is currently an adviser at the IMF office in Brussels where he focuses on Brexit issues. Before he was chief adviser to Peter Praet, the current chief economist of the ECB for five years, and he worked at the IMF in Washington for almost five years. He is also a co-founder of the think tank Bruegel.
